There is a line in the sand that a man must never cross.
When he was young, he got a girl pregnant…
Ask your girlfriend for an Abortion people said.
The boy replied. I have my line in the sand.
So, the boy married his girlfriend. (see note 1)
When he was older people asked him to smoke pot.
I can’t the young man replied.. I have my line in the sand.
The boy avoided pot and any other drugs so he could be the best father and husband he could be.
People pushed him to smoke, drink, and cheat on his wife..
I can’t the man said.. I have my line in the sand.
People pushed him to steal and harm others for fun…
I wont.. You know I have my line in the sand.
His marriage fell apart and people wanted him to abandon his children.
I can’t the father said. I have a line in the sand.
His wife pushed him away from his kids and asked “Why do you bother to try to be a father to them when I don’t want you to”
The father cried “I HAVE A LINE IN THE SAND”.
One day he was talking to someone, and they asked what he meant by having a line in the sand.
I have a line in the sand. It is a point i will not cross. It is my guide to what I can and cannot accept and what I can and cannot do. I have never crossed it and never will. It is my guide when I travel through life because the line moves with me and is always in the same place and while life was difficult, and it was hard to see sometimes I still knew it was there.
Where did the line come from they ask? Who determines what is wrong and right? [note 2]
The man had tears in his eyes and looked at the person and spoke. God does, he had men write it for you and he had men write it for me. He wrote it to be our line in the sand so we never cross over to temptation. It has everything in there you could possibly think of if you look and listen to what God wants to tell you. God is all knowing, and God is all loving.
I didn’t draw the line in the sand… God did. I follow this as my path in life and won’t cross it. I follow it and won’t cross it because someday it will lead me straight into god’s arms.
When I faltered and lost the line i found it again in plain sight. I just was looking in the wrong direction. It is there now, and it is deeper and wider than ever before because GOD wants to make sure I follow it and never falter again. When it gets dark there is a light to show me the way. When the waves come in, they break over the line and me, so it is never washed away again. When the waves freeze, and the fruit doesn’t grow on the trees God warms me with his light and feeds me with his love.
I shall never tire of walking the line because god gives me the strength to go forward.. ever forward.. into his love.

Note 1: Some of this I pulled from my personal life. A time when I was walking away from God. At that time, I fornicated like most non-believers and sex like this is one of the many sins I must repent about and atone for. Also for this note no one ever actually asked me to ask my girlfriend for an abortion. This is tossed in to show that you must stand up against what is acceptable in the “World” and stand for what God says is acceptable. Part of repentance I feel is admitting my mistakes and my sins so that I can recognize my failures and find why they are wrong in the bible, so I don’t repeat the sins. I want to become better and learn the truth God wants me to learn so I can come home to him someday.
Note 2: I did not understand God when I was younger. Things happened that caused me to unfortunately turn away from God at that time. I have recently come back to him and this was written after that happened. When I was younger I had the line but unknown to me God was still guiding me and I remembered values that I could not let go of from previous religious experiences. I also always wanted to be a father and husband so the values that relate to family are very dear to me. This also shows how no matter what I did God still worked on me to try and bring me back. I have great shame that it took over 20 years for that to happen.
